This morning after months of disappointment and constant setbacks allied forces finally managed to make some headway. Just after 9 AM this morning, Gorgas local time, you could hear the screams of jet engines as aircraft took off from three of Gorgas’s four remaining airports. In the distance, you can hear machine gunfire and the sound of artillery shells. Reports state that Denovian forces have run into a massive ambush and have suffered heavy casualties resulting in the allied forces becoming able to bring the front lines of the border of what was Zabzamek and the eastern front to just outside the town of Gori in the center of the nation.
With pressure mounting in the United Nations, Denovia has quickly turned this into another proxy war in the region. No longer allowing military operations to be conducted from Denovian soil and now claiming that there only providing training and weapons assistance to these “struggling nations that are attempting to do away with a fascist government”. Though Denovian troops and pilots have been spotted operating in the region and military analysts have stated that there is no way the two breakaway regions could field this many troops on their own let alone at the skill level that has been reported by allied forces. As for a government, the majority of the Gorgan government is in hiding or exile since Denovian forces took the capital almost six months ago. Only a token group stays in the allied-controlled area to pass along orders and updates to the elected officials that are in hiding.
One Allied commander stated, “We hit them hard today, both on land, from the sea, and the air. We took more than a couple of good hits at the same time and lost some good men and women today. But overall we have knocked a few teeth out and soon round two will start. We are going to hit them over and over till they leave this country.”
